Plan B crowned a triumphant 12 months by scooping the British Male honor at the Brit Awards in London on Tuesday night.
The rapper – real name Benjamin Ballance-Drew – saw off competition from Paul Weller, Mark Ronson, Tinie Tempah, and Robert Plant to land the ceremony’s first big honor.

He shot to fame with his 2010 album The Defamation of Strickland Banks, and was clearly shocked to win the prestigious award, telling the audience at London’s O2 Arena, “I didn’t write anything down. I’m going to say this from my heart. My mom has been there the whole time, my family… There are a lot of people I could be thanking right now. I’m going to thank them all together… Thank you everybody.”

Take That kicked off the ceremony in style, performing their new single Kidz surrounded by a troupe of dancers clad in riot gear and wielding shields and batons.

Other performers due to take the stage at the awards show include Rihanna and Arcade Fire.
