Police officers defused a furious argument outside Simon Cowell’s London home on Tuesday after a neighbor rampaged through the street with a golf club.
Video footage obtained by British newspaper The Sun showed the man ranting about cars he claimed were parked in front of his home, telling bystanders to “f**k off”. He also reportedly yelled “I’ve had enough of Simon Cowell”.
The furious resident also threatened to smash up vehicles, with motorcycle officers turning up to defuse the situation as Cowell’s chauffeur arrived to pick the star up for a Christmas party.
Asked on camera if he was having trouble with his neighbor, The X Factor supremo looked unflustered and replied, “Just a little bit”.
His neighbor later outlined the reasons for his anger to The Sun.
“I wrote a sign on my door saying, ‘Please do not park in front of my house’ and they still did it,” he said.
“But I’m always unhappy with Cowell – he’s a t**t. Who is he? Some prat – The X Factor guy? I lost my temper last night and I’ll do it again – do not park near my frontage. It happens every night.”
Will Lloyd, a witness, told the newspaper: “I was gobsmacked. I have never seen anything like it. This bloke was properly furious. He was going crazy. He was facing Simon’s house just screaming, ‘I have had enough of Simon Cowell! Who does he think he is? I’ll smash all these cars up.'”
The furious resident also accused the 58-year-old music mogul, whose home was robbed in 2015, of attracting crime to the area.
“He leaves his garage doors open every night – even the police are fed up with him,” he ranted. “His security guards don’t shut them till 12 o’clock and that’s a problem for me because he got robbed. If you do that they’re not just going to come and take biscuits. He is the one who is causing all the problems – I’m sick of his face.”
At the time, Cowell said the raid, in which a burglar stole $1.3 million worth of gems while he, his partner Lauren Silverman and their three-year-old son Eric slept, was “very traumatic”.
