A police representative in Las Vegas has shot down reports suggesting embattled hip-hop mogul Marion ‘Suge’ Knight has been arrested for the murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur.
Rumors began circulating on Twitter.com on Monday, suggesting detectives investigating the slaying of the Changes hitmaker hadmade a big breakthrough in the case – which has remained unsolved since Shakur was gunned down in a drive-by in Sin City in 1996.
But Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Laura Meltzer has denied the claims, insisting she has no record of the fallen rap boss being arrested since his February bust for drug possession during a routine traffic stop.
She tells Eonline.com, “I don’t have any information that Suge Knight has been arrested. We picked him up on some traffic warrants back in February and that is the last arrest I show for him.”
Knight, who was with the late star the night he was shot, has never been named as a suspect in the rapper’s murder, but conspiracy theorists have long alleged the Death Row Records co-founder was involved in the killing of both Shakur and his rap rival Notorious B.I.G., who was gunned down in 1997.
Last month, following Pac’s hologram appearance at the Coachella music festival, Knight admitted he didn’t believe the rapper was actually dead, insisting that no one had actually seen the hip-hop legend’s body.
