Pop Stars Sign Off Social Networking Sites For Keys’ Charity

Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Usher are among the stars logging off Twitter and Facebook to help raise $1 million for Alicia Keys’ children’s charity.
The pop superstars have agreed to sign off of all social networking sites as part of a new campaign, Digital Life Sacrifice, to raise donations for Key’s Keep A Child Alive Foundation.

The stars will turn off their computers on Wednesday to mark World AIDS Day, and won’t return to tweeting and updating their Facebook pages until the target of $1 million is raised.

Keys tells the Associated Press, “It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on.

“It’s so important to shock you to the point of waking up. It’s not that people don’t care or it’s not that people don’t want to do something, it’s that they never thought of it quite like that.

“This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic of a way to get people to pay attention.”
