British royal Prince Philip is spending a third night in hospital as he recovers from heart surgery.
Queen Elizabeth II’s husband was airlifted by helicopter to Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire, England on Friday night after suffering chest pains while staying at Sandringham Palace.

The 90-year-old Duke of Edinburgh was fitted with a coronary stent during the “minimally invasive” operation and he received visits from the Queen and their children Princess Anne and Princes Charles, Edward and Andrew on Christmas Eve as he recovered from the procedure.

Six of his grandchildren, including Princes William and Harry, headed to the hospital on Christmas Day to spend time with the ailing royal.

Prince Philip is expected to remain under doctors’ care for the next few days.

A royal spokesman says, “The duke is in good spirits and will remain in hospital under observation for a short period. The Queen will continue to be briefed on his condition. We do not have details of a release date at this stage.”
