A thug who stabbed British rapper Professor Green in the neck has been released from jail after serving just two years of an eight-year sentence.
Anthony Jones attacked the I Need You Tonight hitmaker, real name Stephen Manderson, with a broken bottle during a scuffle at London’s Cargo nightclub in 2009 and was found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent the following year.
He was sentenced to eight years in prison in early 2011, but editors at Britain’s The Sun report Jones has now been released.
The star previously revealed he feared he was dying as blood gushed from a gaping wound on his neck, and even called his family to say goodbye during the drama.
He said, “I phoned my nan (grandmother) and my mom and I said goodbye. I thought, ‘If it’s my time I’m not going to go out crying and screaming.’ It took me a long time to resolve what had happened. I’d be going out to clubs or whatever and I’d be on edge if someone even looked at me funny. I’d be ready to do something to them.
“It made me vulnerable in that I was more likely to do something to someone else and that’s not what I’m like. I don’t believe in violence.”
