Queen Latifah has backtracked over comments suggesting her newly-reunited rap pals Outkast are working on their first new album in eight years, insisting she did not mean to mislead fans.
The rapper/actress, who once served as the duo’s manager, appeared to break the news during a chat with radio host Howard Stern earlier this week, shortly after the Hey Ya! hitmakers announced plans to play at over 40 festivals in 2014, including headline slots at the Coachella music festival in California and the Governor’s Ball in New York.
She stated, “They’re chilling, they’re doing their thing. They’re doing movies and they’re about to work on a new album.”
However, Latifah has now dismissed the claim and apologised for confusing fans.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, “the rumor mill says I predicted an @Outkast album…except I didn’t. Sorry to get twitter a flutter.”
OutKast released their last album, Idlewild, in 2006.
