Actor Zachary Quinto has ‘come out’ as a gay man in a new magazine interview, ending speculation about his sexuality.
The Star Trek star, who played a homosexual character in TV sitcom So NoTORIous, had previously refused to clarify his sexual orientation, but now Quinto has spoken out about his personal life in a revealing interview with New York Magazine.

In the article, 34-year-old Quinto recalls his recent stint in Off Broadway show Angels in America, in which he portrayed Louis Ironson, a man who abandons his AIDS-suffering boyfriend.

He says, “Doing that play made me realise how fortunate I am to have been born when I was born. And to not have to witness the decimation of an entire generation of amazingly talented and otherwise vital men. And at the same time, as a gay man, it made me feel like… there’s still so much work to be done. There’s still so many things that need to be looked at and addressed.”

Quinto again refers to himself “as a gay man” later on in the interview when addressing the current Occupy Wall Street protests, which has seen thousands of people take to the streets across the world to call for equality for all and an end to corporate greed.
