Country music icon Merle Haggard has left hospital to recover after he was diagnosed with a number of illnesses.
Doctors discovered the singer was suffering from three stomach ulcers, polyps in his colon and diverticulitis of the oesophagus when he was admitted to a Georgia medical facility with pneumonia last week.

The 74 year old then decided to leave and began his journey home by tour bus, before realising he still felt unwell and checked back in to hospital for further antibiotic treatment.

Now Haggard has once again been discharged and has returned to his ranch in Palo Cedro, California to recuperate, according to the Associated Press.

The Okie from Muskogee hitmaker has cancelled all of his January tour dates and is next scheduled to appear onstage on 28 February in Tucson, Arizona.
