Sir Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi film Prometheus will be released with a restrictive R rating after the director decided against cutting gory footage from the movie to please censors.
Officials from the Motion Picture Association of America ruled the picture, starring Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender and Guy Pearce, was too violent for young theater-goers and suggested an edit be made if Scott wanted to secure a lower rating to appeal to those 17 and below.
But the filmmaker has chosen to leave the final cut of Prometheus as it is – and as such, only viewers over the age of 18 will be able to see the picture when it is released in theaters on 8 June, reports TheWrap.com.
