Actor Robert Downey, Jr. has delighted fans after sharing the first photos of his newborn baby during a TV interview on Thursday.
The Iron Man star, who welcomed son Exton Elias with his producer wife Susan on 7 February, famously got into trouble with his spouse in December after accidentally revealing the sex of the couple’s child – despite strict instructions to keep it under wraps – during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
The actor returned to the program on Thursday and the excited new dad risked the wrath of his wife again by showing off the first candid snaps of his son.
But it took a little coaxing from presenter Jay Leno to encourage Downey, Jr. to debut the pictures of baby Exton on TV and after initially declining the host’s plea to share the images, the actor succumbed to audience peer pressure, saying, “No, I can’t, I would be in huge trouble. I mean I want to, but I have to exercise a little restraint I’m sorry… I mean, if you want me to I will.”
The first intimate shot showed Susan, wearing an Exton nameplate necklace, cuddling with the infant, while a second photo captured the little boy lying on his back in a striped top and orange pants.
And as the crowd cooed, Downey, Jr. joked, “Oh my god, I’m in trouble. He’s so darn cute, isn’t he?”
According to the movie star, the boy was named after his wife’s “eccentric” great uncle, Jay Exton.
