Rupert Everett is set to replace Eddie Izzard in the Broadway production of Who’S Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?
The show, which also features Roseanne and The Conners regular Laurie Metcalf, will mark the My Best Friend’s Wedding star’s first appearance on the New York stage in over a decade.
He will take over from fellow Brit Izzard, who was forced to drop out of the show over scheduling conflicts. Everett began his career on the London stage and made his Broadway debut in 2009’s Blithe Spirit.
Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? debuted in 1962 and was adapted for the screen in 1966, with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in the lead roles.
Directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, the production will open on 2 March.
