Bluegrass legend Earl Scruggs was remembered during a public funeral service in Tennessee on Sunday.
The music pioneer died of natural causes on Wednesday, aged 88, and friends and family members arrived at the Spring Hill Funeral Home on both Friday and Saturday to pay their last respects.

Andon Sunday fans gathered to celebrate the life of the late star at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, the place where Scruggs, then 21, became a national banjo sensation at the former home of the Grand Ole Opry in 1945.

Executives behind the Academy of Country Music Awards also plan to pay tribute to Scruggs during the 47th annual prizegiving ceremony in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

Scruggs will be laid to rest during a private burial at a later date.
