Country singer Craig Morgan is putting his survival skills to the test by heading to the Arctic to take part in a sled dog expedition.
The Redneck Yacht Club star has signed up to compete in the annual Fjallraven Polar race, a 205-mile (329.9-kilometre) challenge through the freezing temperatures in the mountains of Norway to Sweden this April.
Morgan, 48, and his fellow participants will be taught how to handle sled dogs and how to survive in sub-zero temperatures in preparation for the gruelling event, and he won’t be alone – his son Kyle is also coming along for the ride, as well as cameramen from his U.S. reality show Craig Morgan: All Access Outdoors.
He tells Reuters, “I’ve jumped out of airplanes, been on scuba trips, and I was just in the Bahamas in a cage with sharks. Still, this is pretty extreme in my book.
“I had not heard about this event before I was asked to participate. Once they asked me I said, ‘Absolutely’. I’m a survivalist; anytime I get the opportunity to test my survival skills I jump at it.”
