Spice Girls Celebrate Wannabe Anniversary

Former members of the Spice Girls have come together to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of their first single release.
The girl group shot to fame in the summer of 1996 with the launch of its debut track Wannabe, which was released on 8 July in the band’s native Britain. It went on to be a chart hit all over the world, propelling the pop stars to international stardom.

Members of the group marked the 15-year anniversary of the release of Wannabe on Thursday by reaching out to fans via Twitter.com and thanking them for their support.

Melanie Brown wrote, “On behalf of Spice Girls I just wanna thank all our amazing spice fans for 15 years of loyal support, from Wannabe to this day I love you all!” while Emma Bunton exclaimed, “A big thank u 2 (sic) all our fans who have been with us from the start!!”

Melanie Chisholm adds, “15 years since Wannabe was released in the U.K.! Wow!”
