Famous faces from the Bollywood film industry turned out to pay their respects to tragic actress Jiah Khan at her funeral in Mumbai, India on Wednesday.
The British-born star was found dead at her property in the city on Monday and police are investigating her death as a suspected suicide as she was reportedly found hanged at her home.
Khan’s boyfriend, Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, was present as she was laid to rest on Wednesday morning, along with a number of other high-profile mourners including actors Nagma, Riteish Deshmukh, Ranjeet, and TV stars Urvashi Dholakia and Deepak Parashar. Screenwriter/director Kiran Rao was also among the congregation.
The news comes amid reports Khan was suffering from depression prior to her death, and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who appeared in 2007 film Nishabd with the actress, has urged other sufferers to seek help.
He says, “I am saddened and shocked with the news. I request all not to take such a step because of depression. There are people who are sad, worried, depressed with life as their dreams remain unfulfilled. I request them not to give up in life.”
