The Shining writer Stephen King has handed over a substantial donation to a gun control group in Maine.
The best-selling horror author and his wife, Tabitha, have given “five figures” to bosses at the Coalition for a Safer Maine in support of stricter regulations over gun ownership and ammunition, following a recent spate of shooting massacres in the U.S.
Larry Gilbert, former mayor of Lewiston, Maine, and co-chairman of the coalition, says, “We are grateful for the generous support of Mr. and Mrs. King at this pivotal moment in our efforts to establish common sense gun regulations in Maine. This gift, along with many other gifts from like-minded people around the state, will be used immediately to fund our advocacy efforts.”
