Stevie Nicks has shot down Mick Fleetwood’s remarks suggesting Fleetwood Mac will never tour again by announcing plans to hit the road with the supergroup next year.
Fleetwood recently told Playboy magazine he blamed Nicks for wrecking plans for a reunion by extending her solo tour and co-headliningdates with Rod Stewart, stating, “I don’t believe Fleetwood Mac will ever tour again.”
But Nicks insists her band leader’s fears were premature and now there are plans afoot to stage a major comeback in 2013.
She tells U.S. news network CBS that once she and bandmate and former lover Lindsey Buckingham have wrapped up their current tours, they’ll reunite with the drummer and fellow founder John McVie.
She says, “(It will be) next year… That’s the plan. Because that’s what we do. I do my thing. And Lindsey is out doing his thing now, (but) everybody’s on board.”
The proposed tour is a long time coming for Fleetwood, who told Playboy earlier this year, “We have rehearsed it (tour) and prepared for it since 2010. We were supposed to tour in 2011, but we delayed it for a year to allow Stevie Nicks to support her solo record and for Lindsey Buckingham to do the same with his.”
The current Fleetwood Mac line-up last toured in 2009.
