Jennifer Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law has declined to testify in his ongoing murder trial.
William Balfour is accused of fatally shooting the singer/actress’ mother Darnell, brother Jason and nephew Julian King in Chicago, Illinois in October, 2008.
He has pleaded not guilty to the slayings, but has chosen not to take the stand to defend his name.
In court on Tuesday, his attorney Amy Thompson told the judge, “He’s determined he does not want to testify.”
Hudson and her sister Julia, who left Balfour in early 2008, were among the first witnesses to testify on behalf of the prosecution at the start of the trial in April.
The defense rested its case on Tuesday. Closing arguments are due to begin on Wednesday.
