Country star Taylor Swift looks set to dominate the 2013 Billboard Music Awards after scooping six of the 11 prizes she’s nominated for in the pre-show festivities.
The Love Story hitmaker was already a multiple winner before she even walked the blue carpet at the Las Vegas ceremony on Sunday after she was named Top Female Artist ahead of Adele, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Carly Rae Jepsen.
She also claimed Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Album for Red, and Top Country Song for We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, while she beat Justin Bieber, One Direction, Adele and Mumford & Sons to take home the title of Top Billboard 200 Artist.
Rihanna and Gotye were also quadruple winners heading into the event, while other winners in the pre-show announcement included One Direction, Madonna, Justin Bieber and late singer Jenni Rivera, who claimed two awards in the Latin categories.
Meanwhile, inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Nicki Minaj became the first big winner of the ceremony itself, walking away with Top Rap Artist after Bruno Mars helped to kick off the awards with a performance of Treasure.
