Taylor Swift is to be honoured with Billboard’s first-ever Woman of the Decade award later this year.
The singer will be recognised as “one of the most accomplished musical artists of all time over the course of the 2010s” at this year’s Billboard’s Women in Music event, taking place 12 December at the Hollywood Palladium.
The announcement comes hours after the star was nominated for three Grammy Awards for her latest album Lover, and rounds off a hugely successful decade for the star.
Her five albums released between 2010 and 2019 – Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014), Reputation (2017) and Lover (2019) – were all number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
She’s also racked up three chart-topping singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, plus three worldwide stadium tours and two Billboard Woman of the Year awards, among several other accolades.
Last week, Taylor hit headlines when she claimed music moguls Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, her former record label boss who sold Taylor’s masters to the executive, blocked her from performing her old hits on TV, including at the American Music Awards, where she is to receive the Artist of the Decade honour.
The Big Machine Label Group bosses denied the allegations and later publicly gave permission for the Shake It Off star to use the tracks.
