Terrence Howard’s ex-wife Michelle Ghent has been granted an order of protection against the actor following an alleged violent argument.
Ghent accused the Hustle & Flow star of physically assaulting her while on holiday with him and members of his family in Costa Rica last week. Howard has maintained his innocence, claiming he was protecting himself after Ghent pepper sprayed him, his adult daughter and his son-in-law.
He also claimed that she threatened to kill him and his family, insisting he has text messages to prove it.
Both parties applied for restraining orders against one another, but only Ghent’s request has been granted.
In 2011, Ghent claimed Howard was violent with her during their marriage, alleging that he assaulted her several times over the course of a year. The actor has denied the allegations against him.
The couple wed in 2010 and split a year later. Ghent first filed for divorce in February, 2011.
