Lord Of The Rings filmmaker Peter Jackson has been sent an early Valentine’s Day, 2011 gift – the co-financiers of his troubled The Hobbit film have given him the green light to start shooting in mid-February.
The Lord of the Rings prequel has been stalled for many months, during which time producer Jackson’s choice of director – Guillermo Del Toro – quit to take on another project.

Reports suggest Jackson himself is set to direct the film – and now he knows when he can start, according to Variety.

He is also writing and executive producing the ambitious project.

But before he can start work on the film, he must first hope for the resolution of an actors union dispute in his native New Zealand, where he hopes to shoot the movie.

Jackson has threatened to move the production to Europe if the feud between actors and studio bosses isn’t settled in a timely fashion.
