The Hunger Games’ global domination isn’t limited to the box office – the film’s soundtrack has debuted at number one on the U.S. albums chart.
The movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ beloved book, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, stunned with opening weekend ticket sales figures of £134 million around the world – and now the film’s music is making a big splash.

The album is the first soundtrack to hit the top of the U.S. charts since Michael Jackson’s This Is It compilation hit number one in November, 2009, and it becomes only the 16th soundtrack to debut at the top of the Billboard 200.

Adele’s 21, The Shins’ new album Port of Morrow, One Direction’s Up All Night and Odd Future’s The OF Tape Vol. 2 round out the new top five.
