Tim Roth turned down the chance to be a big part of Harry Potter history, because he feared the role would take over his life.
The Reservoir Dogs star was offered the part of Professor Snape in the popular boy wizard films, but feared he’d take the literary anti-hero, who was eventually played by the late Alan Rickman, to his grave.
“I was like, ‘OK, OK, that’s interesting’, and then I just thought, ‘I’ll be on every lunchbox or whatever it is… I’ll be known for that role’,” Tim tells TV show There’s Something About Movies, revealing his kids have never let him live his decision down: “They were all right about it (at the time),” he smiles, “but they do bring it up. They still do.”
Roth admits he has made one or two films just for his children, adding, “I got offered Planet Of The Apes and it was Tim Burton and it was make-up and I thought it would be fun.”
