Producer Timbaland has reporters at a Michigan newspaper to thank for helping him save his Miami, Florida apartment from foreclosure after they alerted him to the property trouble.
The hip-hop star, real name Timothy Mosley, was hit with a $18,833 lien by the building’s owner last August after allegedly failing to keep up with assessment fees for the $2.6 million condominium.

The quarterly bills soon grew to $27,000 – but Timbaland was unaware he was about to lose the property until journalists from The Detroit News contacted him for a comment on the story.

Their investigation prompted Timbaland to look into the matter himself and he instructed his representatives to settle the outstanding payments in full to avoid foreclosure.

Timbaland’s financial advisors claim they did not receive notification of the bills and insist the discrepancy was just a big misunderstanding.
