Newcomers Tinie Tempah and Arcade Fire were double winners at the Brit Awards in London on Tuesday night.
Tinie Tempah walked away with British Breakthrough Act and British Single for Pass Out, while Canadian rockers Arcade Fire, who were the surprise Best Album winners at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, were handed two top trophies for International Group and International Album (The Suburbs).

Plan B kicked off the awards ceremony at the O2 Arena by scooping the award for British Male Solo Artist. The R&B star/rapper also stunned the crowd with an eye-popping live performance, during which he staged a police riot.

Rihanna was also on top form – the Umbrella hitmaker took home the International Female Solo Artist honor following a racy set, during which she ripped off a red dress to perform her controversial track S&M in a skimpy black bodice.

In the international categories, teen sensation Justin Bieber carried on his stellar success by winning Breakthrough Act, while an exhausted Cee Lo Green collected the prize for International Male Solo Artist.

Reformed boyband Take That cemented Robbie Williams’ return when they were named Best British Group, and Laura Marling surprised many when she was crowned British Female Solo Act.

The biggest prize of the night, the British Album of the Year, went to folk favourites Mumford & Sons’ Sigh No More.
