Actress Tippi Hedren and her partners at big cat sanctuary the Shambala Preserve in Acton, California are begging fans to help them protest plans for the state’s new “bullet train”, which will carve through their land.
The Birds star fears she’ll have to close the sanctuary and re-house the lions, tigers and other animals that call Shambala home if tracks cut through the site.
Shambala workers and supporters staged a protest to the plans at a California High-Speed Rail Authority scope meeting on Monday morning, and one activist tells WENN, “The California High-Speed Rail Authority has decided to route the Bullet Train with a number options, all of which go right through the heart of Acton. This could be a death knell for Acton and the surrounding area.
“Everything in the approximate vicinity will be greatly impacted, including The Shambala Preserve. The Rail Authority has nothing positive to offer the local community… only ruination on many facets. There is overwhelming local opposition to this cavalier monumental fiasco of irresponsible stupidity.”
