Country star Trace Adkins has checked into rehab to seek treatment for alcoholism.
His representative has confirmed the singer entered a clinic earlier this week after suffering a setback in his battle with alcohol.
She tells Country Weekly magazine, “As he faces these issues head-on, we ask that his family’s privacy will be respected.”
Adkins had been sober for over a decade, after completing a 28-day alcohol rehabilitation program in 2002. One year earlier, he pleaded guilty to a DUI charge.
The news of his latest rehab stint comes as reports suggesting Adkins was involved in an altercation with an impersonator during a karaoke session onboard a country music fans cruise over the weekend surface.
According to, Adkins left the cruise ship when it docked in Jamaica and reportedly headed for rehab.
Adkins was set to headline Country Cruising beginning last Sunday along with Montgomery Gentry and Wynonna, but his performances on the ship have since been cancelled.
