Shania Twain has opened up about finding new love following the breakdown of her marriage in a candid online letter – thanking family, friends and fans as she celebrates her engagement.
The singer’s spokesperson confirmed news of her impending nuptials to Swiss businessman Frederic Thiebaud on Monday and now the singer herself is letting the world know all about her joy and happiness.

In a letter posted on her official website on Tuesday morning, the country singer gushes about her “renewed faith in love and commitment”, and gives thanks to loved ones for supporting her throughout her split from Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange in 2008 after 14 years of marriage.

Twain, who confirmed the new romance in August 2009, writes: “In the last two and a half years of adjusting to life after separation and divorce, I needed to lean on others more often than I was accustomed to.

“These people have been gifts, and I am fortunate to have so many of these beautiful people – friends, family and beloved fans, (whose) support I cherish more deeply with each day that passes.

“Talking about love, I am excited to share some personal news with you; I’m in love! Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship. Fred and I are happy to announce, our ENGAGEMENT!”

Twain adds she is “optimistic about the future,” writing, “I’m looking forward to what the new year has in store and to sharing it with you. So, I’ll be in touch with more news and details soon. Until then, have a fantastic holiday season and I wish you love.”

Ironically, Thiebaud is the ex-husband of Twain’s former best friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who was accused of having an affair with Lange. Both Lange and Marie-Anne Thiebaud denied the allegations.
