Twilight To Eclipse The Competition At The People’s Choice Awards?

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse looks set to steal the show at January’s People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles – the film has picked up the lion’s share of nominations.
The sequel scored eight nominations to become one of only three movies to land multiple nods when the announcement was made on Tuesday.

The film will compete for Favorite Movie and Favorite Drama while its stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are nominated for the Favorite On-screen Team and Favorite Actor and Actress categories.

Pattinson and Stewart are are also nominated among the Favorite Movie Star Under 25.

Other multiple movie nominees include Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man 2 and Inception. Iron Man 2 and Inception will also compete with the Twilight film for Best Movie, along with Toy Story 3 and Alice In Wonderland.

Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie will fight it out with Bradley Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey, Jr. and Jackie Chan for Favorite Action Star.

Blood suckers are also taking a bite out of the small screen categories – The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder is nominated for Favorite TV Drama Actor and his series is nominated for Favorite TV Drama and Favorite Sci-Fi Fantasy Show.

True Blood will go head-to-head with The Vampire Diaries for the Sci-Fi Fantasy title, and the drama is also up for Favorite TV Obsession.

Elsewhere, musical comedy Glee is in the running for five awards, including Favorite TV Comedy. Glee stars Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch will be vying for the Favorite TV Comedy Actor and Actress prizes, respectively, while Britney Spears and Neil Patrick Harris’ cameos have earned the series a mention in the Favorite TV Guest Stars category.

In the music categories, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry will compete for Favorite Female Artist and Eminem, Usher and Enrique Iglesias are all up for Favorite Male Artist.

The People’s Choice Awards will be handed out on 5 January.
