Weezer will cheer on the U.S.A. soccer team at Saturday’s Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee by debuting frontman Rivers Cuomo’s unofficial new anthem.
Disappointed that no one has recorded an official Team U.S.A. theme tune in the run up to his nation’s opening World Cup game against England on Saturday, the Beverly Hills singer decided to write his own song.

His anthem, Represent, was released to radio stations on Friday and he’ll perform it with his band for the first time at Bonnaroo after what he hopes will be a U.S. victory.

He says, “They are actually playing the game on a big screen at the festival… I’ll be sitting in front of that big screen with all the other concertgoers, watching the game.”

It’s not the first time soccer fan Cuomo has given the U.S. team a musical boost – he wrote My Day Is Coming in 2006 after the team was ejected from the last World Cup.
