Whitney Houston’s hairstylist prayed with the superstar’s teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina to keep her calm amid the chaos which erupted when the singer was found dead in her hotel bathtub.
The I Will Always Love You hitmaker was discovered faced down, underwater in the bathroom of her Beverly Hills hotel suite on 11 February.
Her longtime hairdresser Tiffany Dixon has now opened up about the fateful night, when she was booked to help Houston get ready for an appearance at her mentor Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy Awards party.
In an interview with news show Entertainment Tonight, she says, “I showed up for my call time. The call time was 3.30pm and I got there… and I heard someone crying or screaming from the direction I was going in… Once I got there I just kind of knew that we needed help. That she (Houston) needed help.”
Dixon was the one who called to report the tragedy to police, and she was left to comfort the singer’s daughter Bobbi Kristina, 19, as paramedics rushed to the star’s aid.
And the stylist admits she will never forget the feeling of fear and dread she experienced that night.
She continues, “At the time (Bobbi Kristina) didn’t know what was happening and I didn’t know what was happening either, but I knew that something wasn’t right. She wanted to pray with me and she hugged me and she didn’t know what was going on. At that moment I didn’t know what to do… It was just a moment that is going to take me quite some time to get over.”
Houston’s death was ruled an accidental drowning with the effects of heart disease and cocaine use.
