Rush To Receive Top Honor At Santa Barbara Film Festival

Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush will be the guest of honor at California’s Santa Barbara International Film Festival next month when he will be presented with the prestigious Montecito Award.
The Australian actor, who stars in Academy Award favorite The King’s Speech, will receive the career tribute on 31 January and the event’s executive director, Roger Durling, insists the awards ceremony will be a royal affair.

Crowe Calls For Master And Commander Sequel

Russell Crowe is pushing for a sequel to his 2003 movie Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World – he wants fans to bombard studio bosses at 20th Century Fox with messages to back his campaign.
The Gladiator star is keen to reprise his role as Jack Aubrey in the film based on the Napoleonic Wars.

The King’s Speech Storms BIFAS

Colin Firth’s new movie The King’s Speech swept the board at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) on Sunday, landing five top trophies at the glitzy event.
The picture, which tells the story of British monarch George VI as he attempted to conquer his stammer, was honored with the Best British Independent Film title, while Firth was named Best Actor.

Polanski Wins Big At European Film Awards

Roman Polanski’s tense political thriller The Ghost Writer swept the board at the European Film Awards on Saturday, taking home six honors.

Snipes Must Check Into Prison By 9 December

Wesley Snipes must report to prison authorities in Pennsylvania by 9 December to begin his three-year sentence for tax evasion.
